| | Yesterday I re-found the sewing kit that my great grandma Amy used to have. I decided to organise it since it was messy inside, and while I was taking things out I found tons of partly-done prodjects that my Grandma Amy had made. Since when I first got the sewing kit and looked through it, my mom said "why not try and finish the prodgects in memory of Grandma Amy?" I decided I would try to. There were lots of interesting things in the box- a hand towel that was folded over and sewn up on the edges to make a sort of a bag, a piece of corteroy(sp?) pants sewn up in the same manner making a similar bag, an old shoulder pad with some safety pins in it, two shirt sleeves pinned together, a piece of a curtain, and several other miscellaneous things. So, I took the things listed (not including the other things that weren't listed by name) and I started putting them together. First I hemmed up the two bags at the tops, then I sewed the sleeves together to make a pocket and put that on the towel bag, then I sewed the shoulder pad into the corderoy bag for a pocket, then I sewed the two bags together at the top and added the curtain as a handle by rolling it up and sewing it together along the middle, then sewing it between the two bag layers. And, voila! I got a reversable bag! It's not that pretty because the colors don't really match, but it's cute. This morning I put in a Zipper, but that kind of messed up the two-sidedness of it. It's ok though, I didn't like the other side anyways. I should take a picture and put it here.
Today I was bored and found one of my old pairs of jeans that had a huge rip in the knee, and I decided to cut the legs off and make shorts. Then I thought maybe I should sew the leg pieces together with some extra leg pieces from another old pair of jeans to make a skirt. I got the other pair of jeans but then decided to do it differently with a little inspiration for my sister. The rest is hard to explain without a picture, but I'll try and get one as soon as possible. I'm wearing the skirt right now, by the way. n_n It's nice and comfy. (before, the jeans that make the base of the skirt were way too tight)
I seem to be on a crafty spree. =D |
